Hostelling During Your Winter Break
Hostelling is often called backpacking in certain parts of the world.
It refers to those who travel and stay in hostels. Many solo travelers
prefer hostels in order to meet other travelers. Those who hostel
usually desire to meet local people as well, eat their food and learn
their customs. Most travelers would never experience the things that
hostellers do. To put it simply hostellers stay longer on less money.
Few people realize that the hostel business is alive and well in the
USA. There are many such accommodations here. A hostel has shared
rooms and sometimes they are dorm style. The common areas include the
bathrooms and lounges. Because of these shared facilities the prices
are very reasonable.
If you are interested in learning more about hostelling in the USA and
abroad, I suggest that you join Hostelling International (202)786-6161
or (800)909-4776. It is not required that you show a membership card at
a hostel but members do receive a lower rate.
http://www.hostels.com is also a great source of information. It is not
too late to plan a winter break get-a-way.
